Art+Travel+Sustainability

Sounds simple enough, yet how?

Being a vagabond is great and all, but I also believe in community and sustainability! How could I accomplish all parts of my equation at once? I mean, isn’t community and sustainability accomplished successfully by living in one location with a group of people, following models of communal or group living, farming and running co-ops? And isn’t tramping around comprised of moving from one place to another quite often, rarely being somewhere long enough to build community or become part of an already established one, coupled with spending way too much time in cars, busses, trains, or airplanes and chain supermarkets to be sustainable? The Yucatan Peninsula region of Mexico is a place where one can find the beauty of nature in its different stages of development. From the untouched, intact paradise of Sian Ka’an reserve in Mayokoba, the well protected coastline of Riviera Maya to the hurt, party places of Cancun. The exquisiteness and loveliness of Yucatan Peninsula is still there but the eco-pioneers in this place have been working hard to stop the mistakes that happened in Cancun. They have been implementing ways to make sure that their land’s natural beauty will be preserved and maintained despite the growing tourism.

Danish Climate and Environmental Project sets an example

A new Danish project model paves the way for more environmental friendly cities. The model was formed in cooperation between residents, organisations and companies with the Danish Technological Institute, Copenhagen Energy and Miljøpunkt Østerbro as the initiators. It all took place during the recently completed environmental project 2100.nu, and the results were so noteworthy that the project form is now to be spread to the entire capital. The savings potentials are enormous.

Heating Savings – Insulate “Warm Areas”

It seems a contradiction in home comfort and energy savings of your fuel oil, electrical or natural gas fossil fuel home energy heating costs.

Why on earth would you want to insulate the warm and comfortable areas in your home? Would it not be the cold and drafty areas where insulation and heating / cooling insulation would be of greatest need and value both in wintertime frigid weather and as well in the summertime to keep your home good and cool and as well keep power or hydro electrical wattage, amperage and monthly utility costs down?
