A Smoke Pipe System – Wood Burning Stoves – Space Saving

A metal chimney outdoors- A good and easy idea that you may not of thought of when dealing with a smoke pipe system for saving valuable space is to have an exterior wall support a space-saving chimney, which can well draw hot smoke outdoors and up on the side of a house or building to a good and safe distance up on the roof.

Single-walled stovepipe rises from the stove, turns and runs horizontally to an exterior wall where it can easily connect to a short piece of insulated chimney pipe that passes through the given wall. A wall spacer nailed to the house siding, separates this exit pipe from the wood framing members. An insulated chimney T, attached to the chimney pipe, diverts smoke upward; it can easily rest on a braced platform, which in the heating trades is referred to as a “wall support assembly”.

Interlocking sections of insulated chimney pipe which are effectively “stacked” above the T can well be reinforced with locking bands which can be analogized as being similar to automobile hose clamps. Connector bands can then be used and utilized to “tie” the chimney pipe to the building structure or structures below the 15 degree elbows that route and snake the pipe to around the overhanging eave or eaves.

Lastly a chimney “cap” tops the system.
